Mascots and Mums

Hello People!!! I am so happy to be done with that story! We have a bit to talk about, ja? Let's see... so the solar eclipse happened and the world didn't end, that's good. (I heard rumors that it might but I didn't believe them to be honest.) Highschool begins next Monday. Oh my gosh, I am so excited, also a little nervous but you know, whatevs.  What I am totally enthused about is the other day I emailed the lady in charge of the cheer group a list of reasons why I think I qualify to be the school's female mascot. I finally got a reply from her last night that said to meet her in the dance studio after school on Wednesday to talk about it.
Do you know what this means???
I might get to fulfill my lifelong dream of dancing in front of people, and hugging strangers while wearing a giant head.
That is so exciting!!!
Okay, so this is the female mascot...the male looks super cool. I could still rock the look though.
So another thing that's been on my mind is Homecoming. I have no idea what to expect. My one friend says everyone is going to get drunk, my other friend says I just have to know a bunch of the typical line dances, the internet says there will be people dancing inappropriately. So yeah....that's not gonna make me nervous at all...
Image result for pants on fire In Texas, there is a Homecoming tradition. Mums. These accessories can be anywhere from a simple adornment like a corsage to an outrageous billboard that the girl wears. The tradition is that the guy asks her to the dance and gives her this Mum to wear to the dance. He comes wearing a matching (much smaller) one on his arm called a garter. Mom wants  to make Mums for me and #2 just in case the boys don't know about the tradition. Fereal some of these are insane.

They vary drastically and are an echo of your character. For me, mine would probably include BirdCrabs or dancing or writing etc etc. Some have lights. That's cool, kind of overkill but who am I to speak?

There are a few examples of young men that dared to match their girl. They are so cute lol. I gotta be honest, I wonder if anyone will ask me to the dance. If not, I might bring a friend who will dance with me. (IDK who that is.) Anyway, I have filled your brains with some Texas culture. I must now depart. Have a good day, I hope you enjoyed. Your comments are always gladly received and I highly advise sharing this blog with your friends. ;)

How To Write a Limerick

Good morning, People! How was your sleep? Mine was alright. In my dream, my buddy Flash found my lost Starbucks gift card. He was like SWEEET until I told him it was mine. Then he looked a bit bummed. I (seeing this sad face and not particularly liking it) decided to make a deal. "Tell you what. You can keep the card if you promise to get coffee with me." "You do not have control over that stuff." He took my card and walked away. Fereal? Who does that??? LOL. Fortunately it was just a dream. I still have my half spent gift card. Now that we have talked just a bit, it is time to get serious. We are going to write a Limerick. {What in tar nation is a Limerick?}Hold your horses, I am about to explain. A Limerick is a form of poem following an A-A-B-B-A pattern. This means that lines 1,2,and 5 rhyme and lines 3, and 4 also rhyme. The lines labeled "A" are longer than the others and have the same rhythm. I will try to write a Limerick right now. (I literally...

Decorate a Leader Night

Hello. Today is Thursday. I wasn't sure what to write about to be honest. The past twelve hours have been a bit like an emotional rollercoaster. I would rather not discuss it right now.  So instead, I decided to talk about poetry. I don't really want to do that though. My brain is a bit mushy. However! I did find this sonnet by Shakespeare. I really like the last line in the sonnet. It just stands out in sharp contrast. I must show you. Here you go, Sonnet 65 by Shakespeare. Sonnet 65 Since brass, nor stone, nor earth, nor boundless sea But sad mortality o’er-sways their power, How with this rage shall beauty hold a plea, Whose action is no stronger than a flower? O, how shall summer’s honey breath hold out Against the wrackful siege of batt’ring days, When rocks impregnable are not so stout, Nor gates of steel so strong, but time decays? O fearful meditation! where, alack, Shall time’s best jewel from time’s chest lie hid? Or what strong hand can hol...

Lonely in the Crowd

At the sight of a title like that, you may be feeling...idk a little shocked, a little curious, maybe confused.  That is just the title of my poem that I wrote yesterday.  It has been long inspired, but had cooled down for a while. (I only write good poems if I am feeling the displayed emotion) Saturday afternoon I was either completely ignored by a guy I was trying to speak to or just unheard.  Either way, it happens a lot and brought back that same lonely emotion that inspired the poem. I was admittedly a bit angry because I hate being ignored, but I was also like,  "Ooh, now I can write that poem." I wrote it after church yesterday.  Here it is. Lonely in the Crowd Like an unseen mime In the unseen box I stand here, Invisible, lost. Unseen by those around Here I am Lonely in the crowd. All around are smiling faces That do not see I'm in the darkest of places. Can you not see me? Here I am Lonely in the crowd. Not for lack of...
