Book Review

Hello People. Today is the second day of August. How the time does fly. School is coming soon. I am going to switch from doing school in my bedroom to attending a giant school. I am a little concerned about how the culture shock will affect me. Let's just be honest here, that is a bit of a change. Fortunately, I am fairly certain that I already work harder in general then will be necessary in public school, so I am not concerned about falling behind.
I must apologize for having my post out so late today. I was really tired so I slept in til like 6:30, then I got dressed and ready for the day, then I swept the dining room, then I switched over the laundry, then I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher and then grabbed some coffee. Now it is 7:03 and I am writing my blog. My brother just woke up. He will either climb in mom's bed or want to watch something train related.
I honestly don't really know what to talk about today.
My neighborhood swim team is to be called the Fighting Frogs. When I saw that, I must admit I was a little disappointed. Like fereal? That's the best you've got? (We should be the Birdcrabs of America) I was challenged to make our like mascot-picture-dude-thing. This I will do, then I will post it here. I have an idea in my head that will come out distorted on paper. I will try my best though.
Okay, in all seriousness, let's wrinkle your brain just a tad. You are probably tired of hearing about my life. LOL. Let me see... Here, watch this commercial.

It will make you laugh.
For school, I have been reading a book called In His Steps, many mistakenly call it What Would Jesus Do? It was written by a pastor for his Sunday evening service. (At the time, stories that applied biblical morals to real life were very popular and he wanted to increase the Sunday evening attendance.) He would read a chapter every Sunday that ended in a cliff hangar so the people would have to return next week to know what happens next. Pretty interesting, yes? The book is good too. It is about a pastor that challenges his very uppity church to take a pledge to not do anything without first asking What would Jesus do?  and then following as best as they could to be like Christ for an entire year. A few people thought this idea was ridiculous, but a few people took the pledge. The book tells of the challenges they face in trying to be like Jesus and do His will. It also shows the huge impact that they made in their city. It was truly incredible. I found it very uplifting to see what would happen from a personal view and also from and unattached angle. (Personal because I was able to read what each character felt, unattached because I am not actually part of the story.) In the end, it is a very good read. Even if you are not religious I think you would be interested. I highly recommend this book. It really challenges you to consider your actions and how they affect others.

That is all for today. Have a good day, comments and thoughts and whatnot are always welcome.
One more thing! I posted a challenge on Monday. (finish that poem...) I will be judging the results tomorrow! Don't forget to send me your version of the finished poem. 😁😁😁

How To Write a Limerick

Good morning, People! How was your sleep? Mine was alright. In my dream, my buddy Flash found my lost Starbucks gift card. He was like SWEEET until I told him it was mine. Then he looked a bit bummed. I (seeing this sad face and not particularly liking it) decided to make a deal. "Tell you what. You can keep the card if you promise to get coffee with me." "You do not have control over that stuff." He took my card and walked away. Fereal? Who does that??? LOL. Fortunately it was just a dream. I still have my half spent gift card. Now that we have talked just a bit, it is time to get serious. We are going to write a Limerick. {What in tar nation is a Limerick?}Hold your horses, I am about to explain. A Limerick is a form of poem following an A-A-B-B-A pattern. This means that lines 1,2,and 5 rhyme and lines 3, and 4 also rhyme. The lines labeled "A" are longer than the others and have the same rhythm. I will try to write a Limerick right now. (I literally...

Decorate a Leader Night

Hello. Today is Thursday. I wasn't sure what to write about to be honest. The past twelve hours have been a bit like an emotional rollercoaster. I would rather not discuss it right now.  So instead, I decided to talk about poetry. I don't really want to do that though. My brain is a bit mushy. However! I did find this sonnet by Shakespeare. I really like the last line in the sonnet. It just stands out in sharp contrast. I must show you. Here you go, Sonnet 65 by Shakespeare. Sonnet 65 Since brass, nor stone, nor earth, nor boundless sea But sad mortality o’er-sways their power, How with this rage shall beauty hold a plea, Whose action is no stronger than a flower? O, how shall summer’s honey breath hold out Against the wrackful siege of batt’ring days, When rocks impregnable are not so stout, Nor gates of steel so strong, but time decays? O fearful meditation! where, alack, Shall time’s best jewel from time’s chest lie hid? Or what strong hand can hol...

Lonely in the Crowd

At the sight of a title like that, you may be feeling...idk a little shocked, a little curious, maybe confused.  That is just the title of my poem that I wrote yesterday.  It has been long inspired, but had cooled down for a while. (I only write good poems if I am feeling the displayed emotion) Saturday afternoon I was either completely ignored by a guy I was trying to speak to or just unheard.  Either way, it happens a lot and brought back that same lonely emotion that inspired the poem. I was admittedly a bit angry because I hate being ignored, but I was also like,  "Ooh, now I can write that poem." I wrote it after church yesterday.  Here it is. Lonely in the Crowd Like an unseen mime In the unseen box I stand here, Invisible, lost. Unseen by those around Here I am Lonely in the crowd. All around are smiling faces That do not see I'm in the darkest of places. Can you not see me? Here I am Lonely in the crowd. Not for lack of...
