Happy Independence Day, people! How are you guys today? I am happy. Dad washed my coffee mug so now I don't have to use one that isn't my favorite. It is very dark and gloomy outside...I think it will clear up though. I was going to write a poem for today but I could not think of anything so instead I made a blog "Page". Apparently I have three views on that already and I haven't even told you guys that I have posted it. (I asked my buddy to proof read, it was probably him and me.) Let me see what poetry I should post... How about Sonnet 2? (Next holiday that comes I will hopefully be more prepared for.)
When forty winters shall besiege thy brow,
And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field,
Thy youth's proud livery so gazed on now,
Will be a tattered weed of small worth held:
Then being asked, where all thy beauty lies,
Where all the treasure of thy lusty days;
To say within thine own deep sunken eyes,
Were an all-eating shame, and thriftless praise.
How much more praise deserved thy beauty's use,
If thou couldst answer 'This fair child of mine
Shall sum my count, and make my old excuse'
Proving his beauty by succession thine.
This were to be new made when thou art old,
And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold.
Let's break this down. When forty winters shall besiege thy brow,/ And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field, This basically means: when you are forty and you have wrinkles on your face.
Thy youths' livery so gazed on now,/ Will be a tattered weed of small worth held: When you are old, your good looks will be worthless and gone.
Proving his beauty by succession to thine./This were to be made when thou art old,/And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold. Your son will carry on your beauty when you are old. Your blood (in him) will be kept warm (Because he is alive) even after you are dead.
The rest is pretty self explanatory I believe. Well I am being told that I need to "Finish that up." So have a good day, and don't lose any limbs to fireworks. (Please.) Oh, and if you get the chance go ahead and checkout my page that I posted. I will see if I can give you a link. 😊
